Join NCUIH for an indepth discussion on understanding and decolonizing trauma. Continual critical examination is necessary to understand how beliefs, ideas, and practices are rooted in the enduring impacts of settler colonialism and its ongoing effects. Experts from the University of New Mexico will help participants examine and understand the influences of historical trauma and how resilience and cultural connections can create culturally safe care and become a prevention method for the missing and murdered Indigenous people (MMIP) epidemic. Continuing education credits are available for nursing and social work professionals.*

Presenters from the University of New Mexico:
• Teresa Gomes, MA (Pueblo of Isleta), Lecturer
• Jennifer Nunez, MSW, LMSW (Acoma Pueblo), Lecturer

Objectives:
1. Understand the foundations of individual trauma studies.
