I am heading out to hike the Continental Divide Trail this year (2024). These are some of the costs that I encountered prior to starting apart from the cost of gear. Not all of the costs will apply to all hikers and the costs of some items will vary wildly depending on a number of factors. But I hope that this gives you an idea of some of the costs that you might not have been expecting or accounted for in your budgeting.
