Universal Power Query Function to Convert Eastings and Northings to Long and Lat for Power BI

Follow
DiscoverEI

Pretty much all maps in Power BI require your point data to be in longitude and latitude – but often our spatial data is in Eastings and Northings. In this video blog I walk through the what, why and how for converting your spatial data to longitude and latitude directly within Power BI, including a free download sample PBIX file with the custom Power Query function and supporting table for central meridian. I’ve adapted the example script from the Power BI (now Fabric) community forum post (https://community.fabric.microsoft.co...) to parameterise the central meridian to allow conversion of data across multiple UTM zones at once.

If you're keen to explore the Power BI report and download DiscoverEI’s free sample PBIX file with the Power Query script that we walked through in this video, then check out the Power BI report and blog here: www.discoverei.com/blog/powerbimappingconverteastingsnorthingstolonglat
