US Airways modern era began after the merger with America West in 2005. From the Miracle on the Hudson, to many failed mergers, the new airline could be described as one of the worst of all time.

The new US Airways failed to merge with Delta and United, before finally merging successfully with American in 2013. The brand was plagued with poor customer service and scheduling reliability. The only way to salvage the company's reputation was to merge again. The new American would go on to become the largest airline in the world, and generally have a better reputation than its predecessor.
