Filing Form N400 for My Wife's US Citizenship: StepbyStep Timeline and Experience

Welcome to our channel! In this video, I share our detailed journey of filing the Form N400 for my wife's US citizenship. If you're in the process of applying for naturalization, this timeline might help you understand what to expect and how to prepare. Here’s a breakdown of our experience, including key dates and steps:

*Timeline:*

*1. November 22, 2023:* Filed Form N400 for my wife's US citizenship.
*2. November 27, 2023:* Received confirmation that biometrics were reused. (Explanation: USCIS sometimes reuses biometric data if it was recently collected for another immigration application. This saves time and avoids the need for a separate biometrics appointment.)
*3. January 3, 2024:* Received notice that the interview was scheduled. The interview document indicated the date as February 20, 2024.
*4. February 20, 2024:* After the interview, my wife was scheduled for the oath ceremony on March 6, 2024.

Interview Experience:
On January 3, 2024, we received the notice for the interview scheduled for February 20, 2024. During the interview, the USCIS officer reviewed my wife’s application, asked questions about her background, residence, and employment, and tested her knowledge of U.S. history and government. She also had to demonstrate her ability to read, write, and speak basic English. The interview lasted about 30 minutes, and the officer informed us of the decision right after. She Passed!

To prepare for the civics test portion, we used the following resources:
USCIS Study Materials: https://www.uscis.gov/citizenship/fin... This includes the 100 civics questions and answers, available in multiple languages.
USCIS Flashcards: https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/f... Printable flashcards for practicing questions and answers.
USCIS Practice Tests: https://www.uscis.gov/citizenship/civ... Interactive practice tests to simulate the test experience.
USA Learns Citizenship Course: https://www.usalearns.org/citizenship A free online course that covers all aspects of the naturalization process, including the civics test.

Oath Ceremony:
The oath ceremony was scheduled for March 6, 2024. It was a significant and emotional event where my wife took the Oath of Allegiance to the United States, officially becoming a U.S. citizen. The ceremony included:

Checking in and returning the Green Card.
Watching a short video about the rights and responsibilities of U.S. citizens.
Reciting the Oath of Allegiance.
Receiving the Certificate of Naturalization.
The entire process took about 2 hours. It’s important to dress appropriately and bring all required documents, including the appointment notice and Green Card.

*PostCitizenship Steps:*

*5. March 11, 2024:* Went to USPS to submit the application for my wife's US passport. Fees included:
Passport Book: $130
Execution (Acceptance) Fee: $35
Passport Card (optional): $30
Photos (if needed): $15
