Use Household Supplies to Make Sensors with NASA

NASA STEM

Creating sensors can seem overwhelming to those starting out. Education specialists from NASA demonstrate how to make three beginnerlevel crafts that perform like sensors using materials that are costeffective and widely available. When students create these beginnerfriendly sensors, their interest in STEM will deepen and their confidence will grow.

Ready to level up?

Educators, take the next step with this STEMfocused activity from NASA called “Sensor Solutions”. In this activity, students will gain a better understanding of the types of sensor technologies utilized by drones, how the sensors work and how a drone’s sensors can provide benefits to society. Students will imagine innovative solutions to realworld problems facing their local communities and demonstrate how those problems could be solved by designing a sensor.
