For this holiday season, let’s see if we can use the power of air and Lego to generate electricity to power a small Christmas tree!

This little Lego contraption consists of two main technologies: A pneumatic engine, which runs on compressed air, and a generator, which produces a small current when driven.

In this video, we’ll use the Lego singlecylinder pneumatic engine to drive the Lego generator. The torque from the engine isn’t amazing, but let’s see if it can produce around a watt of power so that we can light the fairy lights on the Christmas tree.
