Using machine learning and crop sensors, new research has discovered tools to help accurately predict midseason nitrogen (N) availability in wheat. This technology has the potential to greatly reduce the guesswork Australian wheat growers face when making incrop fertiliser application decisions.
Made possible through GRDC investment, the research is part of the Future Farm 2 project. In this video, project participant Jonathan Richetti from the CSIRO discusses the sensor technology field trials and the promising findings the team has achieved so far.
