Very few are the ships that can claim to have fought as hard as USS Johnston. Here is a destroyer that spit in the eyes of ships many times her size. That took hits from Yamato, herself, and kept right on going. A ship that only went down, surrounded on all sides by cruisers and other destroyers.
A ship that, when she ultimately settled on the bottom, did so with her head upright and her guns still pointing at a longgone enemy.
Commander Evans, the man who called her a 'fighting ship' would be proud of that.
