The low tide was similar to DDay. It took me 2 minutes and 30 seconds to run from the water to the berm with only jeans and running shoes. My feet stuck to the mud like suction cups, slowing and tiring me rather quickly. Now imagine doing that with 70 pounds of wet burdensome gear, land mines, obstacles, machine guns, smoke, artillery, bombs, friendly fire, etc....
