Have you ever dreamed of crossing the entire American continent on foot, by bicycle or by motorcycle? Well, some people do. And they not only dreamed it, they carried it out. They all have incredible stories.

In the south of the continent, most usually start in Ushuaia. But in the north, what will we find? The end of the road is at Prudhoe Bay. However, there is a place further north: Utqiaġvik, Alaska, formerly known as Barrow.

Only one boat arrives there per year, since the sea is almost always frozen. As there are no routes, the only connection is a small airport. About 4000 people live there and the area has been populated for 1500 years. Why did so many people choose to live there, so isolated and in such a hostile environment?

In addition, the incredible phenomena known as polar night and midnight sun occur in Utqiaġvik. In the first case, the sun sets on November 18 and only rises again 66 days later. On the contrary, on May 11 it comes out and will not hide until August 1.
