Veteran journalist George Negus has died age 82, with news bulletins playing highlight clips from his successful career.

Unfortunately for 10 News Melbourne, in the rush to cover Negus’ death, the network aired footage of George Fungus, a satirical character played by Paul Hogan.

10 News also misspelt his name on its digital content, the Daily Mail calling the mistake an ‘unimaginable insult’.
