Fujiya Japans foods is a Vancouver institution at the corner of Clark and Venables. For decades now, Fujiya has been a one stop shop for all things Japanese. Sushi rice, seaweed, and seafood items galore. Everything you would ever need to make a Japanese meal. Best of all, Fujiya prepares a massive selection of takeaway boxes! Bento boxes with pork, chicken, salmon, and mackerel. Sushi combos. Rice bowls. Everything is made fresh daily. Fujiya opens at 10:30 AM and it's not uncommon to see the coolers of bento and sushi decimated by 1:30! Apparently there is a Fujiya downtown on Pender Street and another in Richmond as well, but we haven't been to either.

BTW, here's our goto recipe for fantastic sushi rice, the building block of any good Japanese meal. Don't forget the kombu!
