VANS RV 12 light sport aircraft review part II by Dan Johnson. While at the U.S. Sport Aviation Expo in Sebring Florida Dan Johnson flies the VANS RV12 lightsport aircraft. Once back down on the ground he gives us a review of the aircraft's performance, handling, construction, and costs.

The RV 12 can be built from kit with the average builder taking about 800 hours to complete. To fly it with a lightsport aircraft license the plane must meet the FAA definition of a light sport aircraft which limits aircraft to two seats, less than 1,320 pounds, a top speed of less than 120 knots (138 mph) indicated airspeed and fixed landing gear. When completed the builder will have spent about $65,000 U.S.

Currently there are over 350 RV 12’s flying that have been built from kit and another 50 or so that have been delivered to customers ready to fly. (VAN’s Aircraft has produced over 8,000 kits!)
