In today's video I demonstrate how to perform the varus stress test for the elbow. Here we are looking for instability or pain of the radial collateral ligament. Here is how you perform it...
✅ The patient can be in sitting or supine.
✅ The elbow is in 2030 degrees of flexion with the palm up.
✅ Hold the patient's wrist with one hand and place your hand at the medial side of the elbow.
✅ Stress the elbow lightly into a varus position.
✅ Test is positive if there is laxity compared to the other side and/or pain at the lateral epicondyle.
