Vertical Stabilizer pt2 | Building a Vans RV 14 Airplane Ep2

Follow
Blue Sky Flight

The airplane building process continues, for construction of the Vertical Stabilizer for my Vans RV14a aircraft, with the fluting and shaping of the ribs in order to fit the skin of the vertical stabilizer over the skeleton. Holes in the skin and substructure are match drilled and then everything gets deburred and dimpled as needed. Dimpling is done using the pneumatic squeezer and dimple dies for the ribs and spars, and is done using the cframe for the skin.

In addition to covering the building process, I also cover some of the basic aircraft construction techniques including the use of a cframe tool for dimpling aircraft skins and the use of a flange yoke in the pneumatic dimple squeezer.
