South Korea's unification ministry denounced North Korea's destruction of interKorean roads on Tuesday, labelling the move “very abnormal” and strongly condemning the action.

“North Korea is fully responsible for the explosion that cut off the interKorean roads and railways,” the ministry's spokesperson Koo ByoungSam said at a briefing in Seoul.

At around midday on Tuesday, some northern parts of the roads and rail lines connected to the South were blown up, the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said in a message sent to the media. In a video provided by the South Korean military, explosions were seen on roads at the interKorean borders, while North Korean soldiers and trucks were seen mobilized to the site.

In response, South Korea's military fired warning shots south of the military demarcation line dividing the neighbours, though the explosions had not caused any damage on Seoul's side of the border, according to officials.
