Violence Prevention Roundtable with UChicago and Community Leaders

The University of Chicago hosted a Jan. 25 roundtable discussion on violence prevention, focusing on how University/community partnerships and programs can help address the root causes of violence. The event featured Illinois Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton, who spoke remotely before a panel discussion began at the Rubenstein Forum.

Panel speakers included:

• Brenda Battle, senior vice president for community health transformation, UChicago Medicine

• Pastor Chris Harris, CEO, Bright Star Community Outreach and senior pastor, Bright Star Community Church
• Valerie Jarrett, CEO, the Obama Foundation

The event was moderated by Paul M. Rand, UChicago’s vice president of communications.
