A Virginia Beach city garbage truck caught fire Feb. 1 on Oak Street in Cape Story by the Sea. One neighborhood resident can still smell the diesel leaked during the fire and residue is still visible in the street. The city worked to clean up and contain the initial mess, but Steve Snyder wants the city to do more. During the fire, the truck's fuel tank separated from the rest of the vehicle and spilled 15 gallons of hydraulic fluid and an unknown amount of diesel fuel, according to the fire department, which filed a report with the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
