University of Arizona's Laboratory for Immersive Visualization Environments

AZ live stands for the University of Arizona's Laboratory for Immersive Visualization Environments. It is operated by the Research computing service and is a collaborative partner with several upcoming studies, with SALSA and iCAMP.

I wanted to share a quick vignette of some of these capabilities, as they are really cool. It's a stereoscopic immersive and visually stunning combination of multidimensional sight and sound that lends well for virtual environments.

This video here, shows the immersive anatomy of the human heart and the aorta. Next, we look at a few quick clips of a Martial crater and slope. In this video, we are traveling the scanned terrain at over 100 miles an hour.

Next, we look at a virtual mockup of an indoor scene which has adjustable light and furniture. This can be used in architectural planning as well as some upcoming fall prevention studies. We hope to assess and single out several factors which may contribute to increased risk of falling, such as light and shadows as well as color contrast.

As the subject navigates through these environments, the system can dynamically detect collision geometry and even allow physics and object interactions. This final clip shows a virtual temper tantrum where the furniture is being creatively rearranged, in real time.
The capabilities of this are very impressive, and I hope to show you some more cool stuff we're working on as well.
