Visual Analysis - creating a truss model

Follow
Mark Mattson

In this video, we take a look at modeling a twodimensional truss using the IES Structural Analysis and Design software VisualAnalysis. Correctly setting the member connection type is key to creating frictionless pins at the joints and allowing for the model to match your hand calculations.

I have no ties to IES, the maker of the software, other than a user of their software. I've used their software and like its interface and options. It's not perfect, but it works well and has some advantages over programs like Mastan2 or STAAD.
