For those that don’t know, Vol Biv is a specific form of paragliding where thanks to the advancement in modern paragliding light weight design you are also able to carry everything you need to camp multiple nights. This really opens up possibilities to safely fly deeper and deeper lines exploring areas that are rarely visited and often take multiple days to reach on foot.

This video is day 1 of a two day 200km Vol Biv that took us from the southern end of the New Zealand Southern Alps at Mavora Lakes to Ohau Ski Lodge. In the morning we had strong southerly winds on the lake that almost put me on the deck, I managed to climb up in that same wind and fly over the Greenstone and the Caples. By the time we got to Glenorchy the day had really turned on and the flying got much easier. We had a fast run through the Shotover over the Richardsons and the Harris Mountains, climbed back up to base on Roys Peak and had a long final glide over to Hawea.
