Volcanoes routinely generate pyroclastic sediments, which are transported and deposited through a variety of different processes, and which are cut by an array of erosion and hiatus surfaces. The sequence stratigraphy of volcanoes can grant insight into eruption dynamics, local environmental conditions, and the strength and evolution of the edifice into the future. All of this can hugely improve our risk and hazard assessment at active centers. Published works, however, often lack detail in their sedimentological observations. How do we fix that?
