VShred Home Workout Review (Avoid These Ineffective "Combo Exercises")

Yes, our favorite world class, elite fitness trainer VShred is back.

In today’s video I do a vshred review using his latest upload, "10 Min AT HOME Full Body Workout | Minimal Equipment".

While any form of exercise is obviously better than none, the main problem with this vshred home workout is the use of “combination exercises”.

This is where two or more movement patterns are combined into one exercise while using the same weight.

Certain combo exercises are not necessarily bad if the workout is being used mainly for calorie burning purposes (rather than for building muscle), but this vshred workout happens to use some of the worst combinations possible.

For example, he does a squat combined with a triceps kickback and a lunge combined with a biceps curl.

The problem with vshred’s home workout combining these exercises is that your body is capable of lifting far more weight on a compound exercise compared to an isolation.

For that reason, pairing them together makes no sense and will end up under training the larger muscle group.

VShred also performs a "3 way shoulder exercise" and uses dangerous form for his upright rows. Raising the elbows way past the level of the shoulders will place a lot of undo stress on the rotator cuff.

If someone is a complete fitness beginner and just wants to get more active in general then this vshred workout isn't necessarily a horrible choice, but if you really want to build muscle and lose fat effectively then there are much better ways to go about it.

At the end of the day, vshred is simply a marketer rather than a fitness expert and his content should be viewed with that in mind.
