The #vwsamba is 70 years old. This video takes a birthday lookback at the luxury version of the #vwmicrobus which launched at the IAA motorshow in April 1951 and went on to become one of the most soughtafter models in Volkswagen history.

But this video focuses on the special version of the T1 Transporter that so sought after, one #samba21windowbus went under the hammer at a USA auction in 2016 for an eyewatering $302,500 dollars!

Our video looks at the main features of the iconic #vwt1samba including its unique folding sunroof, up to 23 windows and the special interior that added up to a package costing 50% more than the standard T1 bus. Around 100,000 Sambas were sold around the world before it came to the end of production in 1967, but the cult lives on and we feature 1966 Samba that's just been given a new lease of life, transformed into an allelectric, emission free vehicle.
