The Yellowstone River flows over two major waterfalls as it makes its way through the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, the Upper Yellowstone Falls and the Lower Yellowstone Falls. The walk to the brink of the Upper Falls is a lot easier to do than the hike to the brink of the Lower Falls, which is a lot longer and much steeper on the way back.

The viewpoint for the brink of the Upper Falls is accessed from the Grand Loop Road, in between the turn offs to Artist Point and the North Rim Drive.
