This walking gait, with slow motion images, will show excessive supination following heel contact. This excessive supination is also called lateral instability. In this case, it is caused by a high degree rear foot varus malalignment with tibial varum marked on the leg. Contact internal rotation at the knees is still evident, so the supination which causes foot external rotation will cause an abnormal twist or torque in the leg.
