In this video, we take a ride in a VLine Ntype reserved carriage set hauled by an N Class Locomotive, from Warrnambool Station to Sherwood Park Station. Considering this stretch of rail line is still within the Warnambool boundary, we enjoy many scenic views along the way, including some glimpses of the ocean, plenty of vegetation along the rail line, wetlands and much more! Sherwood Park Station itself is quite a recent addition to the VLine Passenger network, having opened in February of 2006, to serve the nearby Deakin University campus. However, according to patronage data from 20162017, the station only served 1,814 passengers that year, which is equivalent to that of roughly 5 passengers a day!
N Class Locomotivehauled services themselves are due to be phased out from the Warrnambool Line within the next 12 months, so savour the various upsides of a locohauled service you see here in this video, be it not having a rumbling motor beneath you or the presence of a buffet car! The locohauled services are due to be replaced by faster, more modern VLine Vlocity railcars.
Enjoy!
