In 1688, William of Orange crossed from the Dutch Republic and ousted King James II of England in what has since become known as the "Glorious Revolution", an event that was followed by William and his wife Mary become corulers of England, Scotland and Ireland as monarchs, while William retained the position of Stadhouder in the Dutch Republic. As the term suggests, this event is not often referred to as an "invasion", however, for reasons stated in this video I will argue that for all intents and purposes, William invaded England in 1688.
