As part of the exercise "Wettiner Schwert 2024", the water crossing of a German battle group on the Elbe near Klietz was on the program on March 18, 2024. "Wettiner Schwert 2024" is a subexercise of the larger Bundeswehr exercise "Quadriga 2024", which is the German subexercise of the NATO exercise "Steadfast Defender 2024". During the water crossing, over 160 heavy, light, armored and unarmored vehicles were brought to the western bank of the Elbe by M3 amphibious vehicle. Two M3 amphibians were coupled to each and acted as a ferry.

The video begins with the positioning of our own forces on the east bank of the Elbe. Then armored infantrymen crossed over to the west bank of the Elbe in a rubber boat. After the enemy has been destroyed within a radius of 400 meters, the unfolded M3 amphibians drive into the water. Two M3 amphibians are coupled together and form a ferry. Then the ferry service begins. First the heavy equipment is transferred: many Marder infantry fighting vehicles and five Leopard 2 A7V main battle tanks (minute 12:00). This is followed by lighter and unarmored vehicles such as Wiesel, Fennek, Fuchs, GTK Boxer, Eagle, Dingo, Greenliner and various types of trucks with and without trailers. From 6:09 p.m. a second ferry (2 x Amphibian M3) arrives and supports the first ferry. Tiger attack helicopters ensure the exercise is secured from the air. They fly past several times at low altitude. At 23:46 the inspector general, General Carsten Breuer, and the commander of the NATO Response Force (NRF), Brigadier General Alexander Krone, appear.
