WEARING HEARING AIDS FOR FIRST TIME | New Hearing Aid Wearers | THREE Ideas to Consider

Follow
Hearing Solution Experts

If you have received your first set of hearing aids from your audiologist or hearing aid dispenser, you may have not heard all there is to know about your hearing issues; wearing hearing aids for first time? Hearing Solution Centers with Dr. Scott Young is here to help and answer some questions you may have. We deal with three main areas.

1) Should I wear my hearing aids all the time? Yes...one should wear it from morning to night. It helps you get used to the sounds that you haven’t heard in years. Consistency always makes the difference in wearing your new hearing aids in both ears.

2) Why Does My Voice Sound Weird? Custom Hearing Aids take time for your brain to adjust because it’s called Occlusion or the Occlusion effect. It means that you will be plugged up for a time. RIC hearing aids have a more open feeling but sometimes can feel like Mr. Microphone in how they sound. It takes those types of hearing aids about a week to ten days to get used to the sounds.

3) What do you do differently than the Big Box Places for hearing aids? Custom care can’t happen in the big box stores that think they can compete with private practices. They can’t set up your phone if there are ANY problems related to them. They don’t have custom ideas to make a difference. Those huge stores want you to get the product and leave as fast as you can. The problem is that everyone’s hearing is custom based upon what their needs are.
