A cleft lip is a common birth congenital condition and can be part of a genetic condition or syndrome and is sometimes associated with cleft palate. A cleft lip forms when the placodes that form our face don't meet correctionly in the middle during development. Repair occurs typically around 36 months of age and has other requirements.
