Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology

When a propellerdriven aircraft is in flight, there is a dedicated lever within the cockpit responsible for regulating the RPM (rotations per minute), which dictates the speed at which the blades spin. This lever plays a crucial role in managing the aircraft's flight speeds.

The specific mechanism responsible for controlling this crucial aspect of the aircraft is a propeller governor. To learn more about this mechanism, we spoke with Brian Ward, Program Chair at our Tulsa campus, who provided us with insight into what it is and how our students are assessed on their comprehension of this vital piece of equipment during their training at Spartan College.
