What is Air Embolism (Lecture and NCLEX Question)

AIR EMBOLISM is a rare but possibly fatal phenomenon that happens when air enters the venous circulation and travels right to the heart. An artery air embolism can occur due to inadequate filtration of venous air embolism by the lung, allowing air to enter the arterial system.
