Well, I learned it the hard way by buying an USB adaptor and then trying to connect my piano to my iPhone. To my surprise the phone didn't detect the piano because I used an ordinary USB adapter. I needed an OTG adapter that could help detect devices connected to the smart phone or tablet such keyboard, mouse, controller, piano, USB storage, external hard disk, etc.
