In this video I will be talking about the concept of mild autism and provide an overview of common symptoms associated with it. Mild autism refers to individuals who have autism spectrum disorder (ASD) with relatively mild symptoms. Unlike an official diagnostic category, ASD is categorized on a spectrum based on severity in the DSM5. The severity of ASD is determined by the level of support needed in social communication, restricted and repetitive behaviors, and sensory differences. Individuals with mild autism may experience challenges in social communication, such as difficulties initiating and maintaining conversations, understanding nonverbal cues, and grasping social norms.
