What Is Pollution Legal Liability?

https://robfreeman.com/ What is pollution legal liability? With the recent headlines about the chemical spill in Ohio, exposure to potential pollution incidents is on everyone’s mind.

As such, pollution legal liability insurance is an important insurance coverage to be aware of because, as I described in a recent video, (https://robfreeman.com/cglcoverpoll...) the standard CGL excludes most pollution claims.

Therefore, if you own, develop or operate a properties or are engaged in transportation activity with the risk of environmental exposure, pollution legal liability (PLL) covers risks to your balance sheet that are not covered by traditional property and casualty policies.

Because the CGL excludes most pollution incidents by default, PLL fills gaps in pollution coverage by providing insurance for pollution incidents at a specific location, or while in transit. PLL provides coverage for:

new and preexisting pollution conditions
clean up and restoration costs
bodily injury and property damage claims
defense costs
business interruption

PLL is unique in that, in addition to unexpected pollution incidents, PLL may also be used to reduce risk in business transactions involving properties with a preexisting environmental pollution condition.
