When you think about it, winning a NASCAR race is pretty hard. A driver has to beat roughly 40 other racers on track, not to mention the physical and mental strength it requires. Winning a NASCAR race puts you in elite company, as only 204 people have ever won at NASCAR’s top level. But as many of you know, luck often plays a huge factor in who wins a race. Factors like fuel strategy, pit road issues, wrecks, poorly timed cautions, and falling off late can all mess things up for the race’s dominant car. In fact, between 2010 and 2020, the driver who led the most laps only won 38% of the time.

This fact led me to seek out what was the most lucky win in NASCAR’s history. There have been tons of “lucky wins” in NASCAR, so I’m not going to be able to get to all of them. But I want to look at many of these finishes and determine what truly is the luckiest win in the history of NASCAR.
