Description: The publication of the atomic structures of the 50S and 30S ribosomal subunits in 2000 revolutionized our understanding of protein synthesis. In my talk I will focus on our work, initially on the 30S subunit and subsequently on the entire 70S ribosome, focusing on how the ribosome facilitates the accurate translation of the genetic code.

The NIH Wednesday Afternoon Lecture Series includes weekly scientific talks by some of the top researchers in the biomedical sciences worldwide.
