The Serpent Queen is a warrior woman for sure. Catherine de' Medici has been called many things over the centuries: "The Serpent Queen", "The Black Queen", "The Maggot From Italy's Tomb", and even, "The Devil's Queen" with all kinds of malicious acts attributed to her FIERCE character.

History has branded her a poisoner and and the new historical drama series, The Serpent Queen, starring Oscar nominee Samantha Morton as the Serpent Queen of France is set to cover her full life from childhood through her terrifying reign as the Queen Regent.

The show writer's want us to know that this is truly the real Catherine de' Medici and she's telling her own story.

We will have to see how that holds up. Either way, there is no sugar coating the fact that Catherine de' Medici was one tough lady.
