Since 1981, Taiwan has been renamed "Chinese Taipei" at the Olympics and other international sporting events. To this day, athletes competing for this island nation are banned from waving their national flag: an action that violates the rules set by the International Olympic Committee. A decision which could result in the entire team being disqualified from the competition. Something that's actually happened in the past.
