Where Hitler First Saw Combat | History Traveler Episode 381

The History Underground

We're on the Western Front at the Ypres salient, which saw the most sustained combat during the entire First World War. Starting in midOctober of 1914, the German army began a push to take the city of Ypres which formed a major road junction. Among those making that push was a young Adolf Hitler. In this episode, we're taking a look at the place where he saw combat for the first before heading to Langmarck German Cemetery to explore the origins of what would later become part of the Nazi mythology.
