Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego? - Bonus Round/Trail of Time (Season 2)

This is the full theme of the Trail of Time, AKA the Bonus Round from the PBS children's game show known as "Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego?".

This music was composed by Robert Agnello, and his YouTube channel can be found here:    / @robertagnelloglimmers

This game show was hosted by Kevin Shinick (also known as the A.C.M.E. Time Pilot Squadron Leader), and was announced by Cherlynne "Lynne" Thigpen (who reprises as The Chief after she previously held that role in "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?", also from PBS).

In this round, the Time Pilot who won the previous roundin which (s)he had to recite the eight events in reverse chronological order correctlywould attempt to capture the episode's V.I.L.E Villain as well as Carmen herself.

This round was held in another part of the soundstage, and had six Time Portals; the contestant had 90 seconds (or 1 minute and 30 seconds) to go from portal to portal, following the directions that the Engine Crew were pointing.

Every portal had a gate in front of them; at each Time Portal, the player had to push a button and, once pressed, Carmen Sandiego attempted to stump him/her with a given themed question. Each question was about six seconds long and had two answers. If the contestant answered correctly, the gate would open automatically; however, an incorrect answer would cause the Time Pilot to manually operate their nearby device to open the gate (and lose precious time).

After the second/third Time Portal, the Time Pilot captures the episode's V.I.L.E. Villain of the day and thus his/her run through the obstacle course continues.

If the Time Pilot succeeds going through all six Time Portal gates before time runs out, the contestant captures Carmen Sandiego and wins the grand prize (a complete multimedia computer system); however, if time runs out, Carmen escapes and the contestant wins a consolation prize.

Usually, a Time Pilot would answer five out of the six questions correctly to capture Carmen; but in other cases, a contestant could capture her if he or she was speedy enough after answering four questions correctly (depending on how fast they ran through each portal and/or how fast they manually operated the devices after providing two wrong answers). It was very uncommon for a Time Pilot to capture Carmen after correctly answering every question in all six Time Portals.

After this round ended and The Chief told the contestant the prize (s)he won, the show ends with the goodbyesfrom Shinick, the player and the Engine Crewby saying, "At ACME Timenet, history is our job, and the future is yours!"
