It's no secret that having the fastest/most powerful CPU available is going to get you the best performance/most frames per second when gaming with a powerful GPU, but what about VR? The fact that PC VR is typically run at resolutions much higher than 1080p, which puts more load on the GPU, and caps the frame rate to the refresh rate of your headset, means having the fastest CPU on the market may not really be all that important. For a couple years now I've been using the Ryzen 7 5800X3D in my PC VR test rig and I feel it's an amazing CPU, but I've had some viewers suggest that CPU, as powerful as it is, is actually bottle necking some of the higher end GPU's I've been testing and to really get the most performance out of those GPU's I should be testing with the Ryzen 7 7800X3D instead. Even though I feel the 5800X3D is plenty fast enough for PC VR I felt I needed to test it against the 7800X3D and find out for certain just how much difference, if any, using a faster CPU makes in PC VR.
