Born holding a blood clot, Genghis Khan (real name Temujin) grewup in a violent and ruthless world. The horsenomads of the Eurasian steppe were violent and brutal, pillaging and raiding their neighbours and one another.

His father was murdered, his clan abandoned him, his mother and his siblings, taken as captive he was nearly executed, his teenage wife was captured by a rival tribe and brutally raped.

From this traumatic upbringing emerged a man with a remarkable genius for warfare. He revolutionised his army and through extreme violence and political skill united the warring tribes to form the Mongol Empire, in time, the greatest land empire the world had ever known.
