Population

There are a little more than 55 thousand inhabitants, a population similar to Portimão, more than Caldas da Rainha and Albufeira, for example. The Ovar municipality is divided in only 5 parishes:


Location

The Ovar municipality is one of the 19 municipalities that constitute the district of Aveiro, occupying in this, an eccentric position, in the northern littoral.
The city is about 40km away from two important Portuguese cities, as I have already mentioned, Porto and Aveiro.

How to get there

The Ovar municipality is currently served by trains and buses.
There is a good frequency of trains in the Ovar station.

To Aveiro the average time is 25 minutes and the fare is 2,05€.
By car the distance from Porto is 42 min 45 km via the A29 and the journey includes tolls.

How is it to live
The tranquility, safety and quality of life of living on the coast of Portugal is one of the highlights of Ovar.

For those who like the beach it is very close to Furadouro Beach. Who knows even living there?
Climate
In Ovar the summer is pleasant, dry and with almost cloudless sky; the winter is cool, with precipitation and partially cloudy sky.
The warmest month of the year in Ovar is August, with a maximum of 24°C and a minimum of 15°C, in average.
The cool season lasts for 3 and a half months, from 23 November to 5 March, with maximum daily temperatures below 16 °C on average.
The coldest month of the year in Ovar is January, with a maximum of 14°C and a minimum of 5°C, on average.
