One of the most important events in world history... on 10th January 49BC Juliuys Caesar crossed the Rubicon and invaded the capital, Rome.

In doing so he precipitated the destruction of the Roman Republic and paved the way for the formation of the Empire; Roman democracy was destroyed and a dictatorship born.
