Why Every Gangster Rapper Was TERRIFIED of Charlie Murphy
In a quest for a sense of family and perhaps protection, Charlie joined the "King Python's Gang" on Long Island, where he was known as "L'il Boss." During his teenage years, he briefly affiliated with an offshoot of the Nation of Islam called the "Five Percenters" and even took on the name Omar Allah during his membership. However, his involvement with gangs would ultimately lead to negative consequences. As recounted in his 2009 memoir, The Making of a StandUp Guy, Charlie made an impulsive decision to participate in an armed robbery with some of his gang associates. This decision resulted in him serving 10 months of jail time in the Nassau County jail.
