Why I *don’t* want a conditioner for my hay mower

Windrow Farm

Here’s a controversial take on a question I get asked a lot: Discussing why I have purposefully chosen hay mowers without a conditioner, even in the New England dry hay game.

I recognize this is just one opinion, based on my own experience and I’ll state again that I’m not holding anything against conditioning systems. But I do think there is a lot more room for not using a conditioner than a lot of people seem to believe. Curious what you all think!

(Keep in mind that my experience is with making grass hay in a New England climate all dry, all small squares.)

*(Also not sure why I said “26 hour hay” toward the end. Probably more like 30 to 32 but point being I’ve made plenty in a twoday stretch)*

Please keep comments and discussion respectful but I’m super curious to hear any and all thoughts.

Thanks for watching!
