To be clear Belarus supports Russia in its war by allowing Russia to launch missiles from its territory and by allowing Russian troops to use the country as a gateway on their way to Ukraine, as Belarus and Ukraine share a 1000 km border near the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. However, Belarus is not directly involved in the conflict at least not officially. But there is a reason for this, as the majority of Belarusians, about 79%, consider the death of Belarusian soldiers in the war between Russia and Ukraine unacceptable, and at least 74% have a negative attitude towards any Belarusian involvement in this war. Moreover, the open deployment of Belarusian soldiers in the war would undermine Lukashenko's ideology of peace and stability and could trigger big protests.
